Vinyasa Krama Yoga and the Emergence of Yoga have been taught in Wells Museum, next to Wells Cathedral for 20 years. Stephen Brandon has taught hundreds of students here and brought legendary teachers in the Krishnamacharya tradition to this iconic location.
The Museum as a venue therefore has this rich yoga tradition established over years. It is a clean, large space with kitchen and garden for use in break times. After workshops you can wander out to see the sacred and ancient Wells Cathedral or go around the corner and see Vicar's Close, the oldest medieval in tact street in Europe.
When practising yoga though, you are encouraged to go within, focusing on body and breath. When you finish, you integrate with the world again, feeling more peaceful and whole.

about these workshops

See poster for topic info of the June & July dates and booking links above for fuller descriptions of each day.
Practice Days are to bring together those inspired & enthused about authentic lineage-based yoga, for the simple reason of feeling peace, alongside the more obvious benefits of yoga like relaxation, health and fitness. Vinyasa Krama is a lineage of yoga from Sri T Krishnamacharya (known as the Father of modern yoga), as taught (for over 30 years) to Srivatsa Ramaswami.
…from ‘Krishnamacharya in His Own Words’: “Do not do asana (positions) and other practices without proper application of structured goals and steps (vinyasa) and without yoga (vigilance and stillness of the mind)“.
Vinyasa Krama’s integrated approach gently energizes the body, focuses the mind, calms the nervous system, promotes physical and emotional health but most crucially it has the aim of mental peace. It is true to yoga’s ancient roots. Do join me to go deeper in your yoga journey or start a new one.
A short intro to VKY will be given for any beginners. The Vinyasa Krama Yoga manual is recommended to practice this system, alongside Ramaswami’s book ‘The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga’.
Emergence of Yoga -
Yoga in the Tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya & Sri T.K. Sribhashyam
Yoga Seminar with Mrs Brigitte Khan
Following the Teachings of Sri T.K. Sribhashyam
12th – 16th August 2026
Seminar Cost £270, £50 deposit to reserve a place. Please contact Stephen Brandon email: stephenbrandon07@icloud.com
In practical and theoretical sessions the Seminar will clarify the role, aim and various elements of practice sessions presented in the book Emergence of Yoga. It will cover some essential practical and theoretical aspects of concentration according to the concept of Marma Sthana and will explore the technique and impact of meditation.
We will investigate some of the key elements a human life contains. Who are we really? What exactly is our ‘mind’ and is it telling us the ‘truth’? Why do we sometimes feel like turning around in a circle, not finding a way out? Why does our inner Peace keep slipping away?
We will try to find some answers by looking into the concepts of Klesha, the functions of perception and the mind, as well as the power of emotions and how to harness them to find lasting Peace. We will also look at how the various parts in the Practice of Traditional Yoga help and support us in facing the challenges related to the above questions, thus creating a bigger space in our lives for the spiritual search.
You will require a copy of the book Emergence of Yoga by T.K. Sribhashyam

T.K. Sribhashyam came to teach a five day Seminar in Wells, Somerset, UK in 2016. This Seminar will be honouring the 10th Anniversary of this significant event in the transmission of Krishnamacharya’s teaching in the West. It will be a rare opportunity to engage with these profound teachings flowing directly from the Vedic Seers and in our generation from Sri T. Krishnamacharya and his son Sri T.K. Sribhashyam. Mrs Brigitte Khan, a student of Sribhashyam for two decades, will share her in depth knowledge of traditional yoga supported by her practical experience.
